This talk covers five primary characteristics that define a true semantic layer. It also reviews other claimed semantic layers that by comparison lack sufficient desiloing, power and cohesion, and will explore why they don’t measure up. These will not have the staying power and vision that 20+ years of semantic standards have already demonstrated.
